Hygienists work with you to make a bespoke home care plan to promote healthy gums and to reduce your chances of tooth decay, while also advising on preventing erosion and toothbrush abrasion.

Hygienists gently remove calculus from above your gum line and ensure you can keep the gums and teeth clean before recommending deeper cleaning.

When a hygienist polishes your teeth this reduces the effects of surface stain and may make your teeth appear brighter. Many patients choose a Classic Scale and Polish before an important event to ensure their teeth are looking their natural best.

Hygienists can apply fluoride and fissure sealants under the prescription of a dentist and this covers the deeper grooves of you teeth where are you more likely to experience tooth decay, which reduces the likelihood of you needing fillings in future. Fissure sealants can be used with patients as young as 6 years and many young patients find this a pleasant introduction into preventive dentistry. At VIDA we promote children establishing a relationship with a hygienist at a young age, building their independence and understanding of the homecare, and feeling confident in their oral health.
