How VIDA Orthodontics is different

Although many VIDA patients are suitable for the fast and quick orthodontics, the VIDA personalised service will identify if you are that quick 3 month case, or whether you’re more for the appearance and health, goals are better served by a lengthier treatment. Nobody wants to have treatment twice because it wasn’t completed to their satisfaction the first time!
Poorly finished orthodontics may leave you dissatisfied, or wishing you had visited the dentist who spent more time on assessing your needs and visualising the end point with you.
10 tips when deciding on braces
- Gather information about your orthodontic problem
- Do not jump on the quickest, easiest, cheapest solution; instead, listen to your dentist explain all the options
- Quick orthodontics may be fine for you, but don’t trust anybody who you feel isn’t taking the time to assess you fully or listen to you
- Don’t trust anybody who asks you to take your own impressions! There is a reason dental professionals are trained to take your dental records! Braces need to fit accurately to work well or treatment can take ginger than necessary or even fail to straighten
- Intra oral scanners are better for patients who gag or fear the dentist. Our VIDA scanner links directly to Invisalign and the main UK orthodontic providers
- Shopping around is fine, but remember that choosing a dentist who gives attention to detail will impact your overall result and experience
- Do not begin orthodontics before you are dentally fit
- If you are likely to forget to wear your braces, then fixed braces are safer for you. Removable braces must be worn for 22 hours a day to be effective otherwise treatment can fail
- Check online for positive reviews before beginning treatment. You will be seeing your dentist regularly therefore they must have a good track record and you must feel comfortable with them
- Once you have straightened your teeth, remember to invest in high quality retainers. VIDA recommends spare sets for all our patients
A whitening and Invisalign story…
A lovely young patient of ours came to us less than a year ahead of her wedding day. We undertook some gently straightening, whitening and recontouring of her teeth to bring a more harmonious appearance to her smile and improve an already stunning appearance.
The great news is that she was ready in time for her big day and her smile makeover requires minimal maintenance in future: just top-up whitening gels, some maintenance of her composite recontouring fillings, and retainers to keep her teeth in their straight position.
How will I know if the result is what I want?
Following on from your Records appointment, depending on the brace system you choose, we may arrange for a digital simulation to show you a realistic picture of the results. With Invisalign this is called a “Clincheck” and is a mandatory part of the process. This gives you a short digital video of the process and proposed result.
How will I know the cost of my treatment?
At VIDA we keep pricing simple. Your pricing will be based on the complexity of your case. We offer a clear pricing structure based on the estimated time to treat you. We can often give you an idea of a likely range of fee options when we meet you for a Complimentary Consultation.
While Invisalign is available for under £2000, very few patients fall into this low level of treatment, so please be wary of online marketing which suggests prices can be held this low for most or all patients.
VIDA will give you fee options based on your own teeth so you have accurate information which to base important decisions.
At VIDA we also tell you upfront if you need a contingency fund, what that be for, and what we think you will need to budget for future maintenance (usually plastic retainers).
Are braces hygienic?
With any orthodontic appliance you will need to invest extra time in your hygiene routine to prevent decay and gum problems. With the VIDA Hygiene team, you will be shown all the skills you need to maintain a fresh and healthy mouth. Regular dental appointments to check for new problems must continue alongside your braces treatment.
With Invisalign, you can remove the braces to simplify your daily cleaning routine. They will also need to be removed for eating, which makes cleaning your brace much easier too!
