Faster teeth
We have had a flurry of enquiries recently about how quickly crowns, veneers or bridges can be made. People are even asking specifically for Cerec (one of many systems of producing teeth the same day). However it isn’t important what name the system has, but rather, what it is you actually want to get from it.
Is it possible for VIDA to do Cerec or other same-day crowns?
Our answer is, “Yes we can do same day restorations, but we prefer to recommend this on a bespoke basis”.
Are same day crowns as good?
The types of crowns which can be made the same day are those crowns which can be milled from a single block of ceramic. This can be great for a tooth further back in the mouth which isn’t particularly visible because you get the whole job done in just one day off work. Sounds great? It is… except very few of us have teeth that are a single shade all the way through. It is more likely that your natural tooth is a little more complex than a single shade block.
This is why the fastest option may not be your best option. We know you want the new crown to blend harmoniously with your other teeth, but often a natural result requires us to combine several shades together in order to look right, which takes longer than a day. Of course, shades and stains can be added over the top of milled ceramic, which improve its natural appearance, and is a job best carried out by a skilled dental technician at the lab rather than done on site by your dentist.
Therefore, “Can VIDA give me a Cerec crown?” perhaps isn’t the question you should be asking. We prefer, “Is a Cerec crown best for me?”. VIDA focuses on doing our very best for you, as quickly as possible, but not at the expense of the final result.
