At McInerney Dental Practice we take the care of our patients very seriously. We know you expect to be treated in a safe environment and so our cross infection control measures are of paramount importance to us. The cleaning, decontaminating and sterilisation of all our equipment and instruments is undertaken very carefully and thoroughly. Most of these procedures take place ‘behind the scenes’ by the dental nurses, Louise, Jenny and Laura, working in our newly refurbished decontamination room.
The layout of the room has been custom designed to make it easier for us to continue to achieve excellent standards of hygiene and infection control. Following strict protocols, all our instruments are thoroughly cleaned before being sterilised and safely stored for future use.
One of our new pieces of decontamination equipment is a ‘DAC Universal’, which cleans, lubricates and sterilises all our dental handpieces. The fully automatic programme ensures the highest level of instrument hygiene and the correctly dosed lubrication results in the optimum maintenance of the handpieces and helps to extend their lifetime.
This quicker and more efficient cleaning and sterilisation cycle will enable the nurses to have more time for patients, and enable us to continue to give you the best possible service.
A more visible change in the practice already this year has been the fitting of the new carpets. We think they look great, and so far they have received many favourable comments from patients. Let us know what you think!
