This Sunday will see Karen and Laura riding and running for charity. They have each written a little piece about their events.
Good luck to you both!
Hi I am Karen Knowles, Dental Hygienist at McInerney Dental Practice where I have worked since 2001.
On Sunday I will be setting out at 9am from Clapham Common to cycle 54 miles with my lovely son James in aid of The British Heart Foundation.
Heart Disease can affect any of us, but it is not until it comes close to our own family that is hits home how important it is to help fund research into the treatment of heart disease.
This will be my 8th London to Brighton ride! It is not a race but a fun day (will I be thinking that going up Ditchling? I don’t think so!) with about 20,000 like minded people all peddling for the same cause. It is a very well organised event with official stops every 5 miles so you can top up on supplies or even get your bike fixed if there are problems, which is reassuring.
So think of me on Sunday, pray that the wind will be behind me and I will give you an update after the ride. Just hope I can sit down on Monday!
Hi I am Laura, Dental nurse at McInerney Dental Practice since 2007.
On Sunday 16th June I will be running my 5th 5K race for life in Bournemouth. I hope to best my 40 minute personal best, but with the weather forecast I hope the wind isn’t against me!
The charity I am running for is cancer research, such a worthy cause which touches so many of us. Any donations are gratefully received. I will be running with my family and 12 year old daughter who had been my very strict personal trainer, so I wont be getting away with not putting 100% in! I will update you on how it goes and if I do beat that 40 minute time!
